Management of PCOS

Management of PCOS should be INDIVIDUALISED to each woman according to the specific symptoms experienced:

General Measures helping ALL symptoms

  • Weight loss

  • Exercise

  • Low Glycemic Diet

  • Glucophage SR (500mg daily up to 2000mg daily)

Irregular period

  • Celine (x1 to x4 tablets daily)

  • Inofolic Acid (x1 to x2 sachets daily)

  • Oral Contraceptive Pill

At least a period every 4 months is ABSOLUTELY required. This is so in order to reduce the risk of endometrial cancer. If there is no period within four months then an induced period can be achieved using Duphaston (x1 pill twice daily for 7 days)

Hirsutism & Acne

  • Celine (x1 to x4 tablets daily)

  • Inofolic Acid (x1 to x2 sachets daily)

  • Oral Contraceptive Pill

  • Spirolone (counting Spirinolactine which is an anti androgen, reducing the levels of testosterone which plays a role on the hirsutism)

Infertility

  • Clomid (containing clomifene which can induce ovulation)

  • Use of Ovulation Strips which can more accurately detect the ovulations day
